Listening to this Buena Vista Social Club performance in Amsterdam just might put you in the mood for the Festival de Culturas at UMKC this Friday, September 21 at the UMKC Playhouse (50th and Holmes) from 5PM to 9PM.
It's a celebration of Hispanic culture that will feature folk dance performance, tango performance, DJ, live music, Latin food, crafts and activities for kids.
The purpose of the Festival de Culturas at UMKC is to continue to attract the UMKC community as well as the Hispanic community of the greater Kansas City to celebrate with us the culture and traditions of the fastest growing minority in the United States.
The festival is part of the UMKC Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. The main sponsors are: Multicultural Student Affair, The Activity and Program Council, Association of Latin American Students, The Interested Men of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. For more information, contact Jose Vazquezat 816-235-5642 or mailto:jvff5@umkc.edu
We're also looking forward to this month's Great Jazz and BBQ (9/24) and the World's Largest Marble Tournament (9/29).
Just a few of the great events this month at UMKC.
